Ridge Hill’s Movie Mondays Successfully Launches with The LEGO Movie
Yonkers Mayor Spano Welcomes Large Crowd to
Yonkers, NY—Tuesday, June 17, 2014—Last night’s launch of Movie Mondays at Westchester’s Ridge Hill was a spectacular success for hundreds of local families who gathered to see The LEGO Movie on a big screen on the lawn of Town Square. The LEGOLAND Discovery Center partnered with the center to create a “LEGO Day,” and other local merchants were on hand for pre-screening activities.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano was at the screening to greet the crowd. “It is a great joy and privilege to be a part of “LEGO Day” which showcases Ridge Hill’s commitment to providing incredible family friendly events by working in conjunction with one of the region’s greatest attractions, The LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Kicking off Movie Mondays with The LEGO Movie is a great start to the summer series. Ridge Hill has proven again that it is a vital component of our vibrant community here in Yonkers,” he said.
Before the movie began, families participated in a wide variety of activities that included practicing tennis moves with the Yonkers Tennis Center, coloring and chalk drawing with Wee Westchester, “boot-tossing” with L.L. Bean Bootmobile representatives, and, of greatest interest, creating LEGO structures with a Model Builder from LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Families also took advantage of special pre-movie dinner specials at Bonefish Grill, BRIO Tuscan Grille, Havana Central, Texas de Brazil and Little Buddha, or enjoyed popcorn and refreshments from Whole Foods Market Yonkers and sampled beers from Yonkers Brewing Company.
Ridge Hill also had a blanket give-away so families could enjoy the movie in comfort on the lawn of Town Square.
“Ridge Hill’s Town Square lends itself to a community gathering, so we’re pleased to be able to offer this fun evening event for families in Westchester County,” said Andrew Hardy, General Manager of Westchester’s Ridge Hill.
Movie Mondays will continue with Frozen on Monday, July 14, and Despicable Me 2 on Monday, August 11. Both movies will start at sunset.
Movie Mondays is a Ridge Hill partnership with Rooftop Films, along with event sponsor Westchester Magazine.
